The Junior Leaders programme is a progression of the existing playground leaders training which was introduced to primary schools a number of years ago. Although not replacing playground leaders, junior leaders training has more depth and is designed to introduce upper stage primary pupils to planning and delivering physical activities whilst also exploring the wider roles they could undertake as a leader in their school. Pupils are introduced to this programme through formal training covering:
  • Leadership
  • leading and adapting activities
  • overcoming challenges
  • session planning
  • and the wider roles of a junior leader.
Completing this training allows primary schools and pupils to apply this learning to various initiatives and may involve pupils undertaking roles such as decision makers, event and competition organisers, technical officials and deliverers / coaches. Contact your local Active Schools Coordinator for more information on becoming a Junior Leader. INSERT graphic link to Brandon Tribe
